From humble beginnings… Video Game Rescue started as a flea market stall, way back when.

The Nerd Castle

Video Game Rescue’s brick-and-mortar location was opened in 2014 by Dustin Gartenbush, but the concept goes back a bit further.

With just a dream and a very supportive community, Dustin quit his full-time job in late 2012 and decided to make the ultimate gamer venue a reality.

In November 2014 the community came together and crowdfunded the FIRST arcade in Jacksonville since TILT shut down at the Landing and in Regency Square Mall.

VGR has since grown into a three-unit venue with a well-stocked store, a selection of arcade classics and and an event space for tournaments and community gatherings.

FAQs

  • Yes! We offer store credit for just about everything, and cash for consoles and higher value games. If you’ve got something in particular you’re looking to sell, give us a call or shoot us an email and we can let you know if we’d be interested.

  • The only repairs we offer are save battery replacements for cartridge based games.

We can help troubleshoot your issue (free of charge) and at least point you in the right direction. We can refer you to local repair businesses we recommend, or talk you through the process of sending your item to the manufacturer.

  • We’re old school: our arcade machines operate on quarters. We have an ATM and change machines on-site, and our cashiers are happy to break larger bills for you.

There is no charge to enter the VGRcade. Games run from between 25 cents and $1 per play. Most of our pinball machines offer a ‘$2 for 3 games’ special.
